SKF Distributors and SKF Authorised Distributors

At SGL Bearings LTD we are SKF distributors in the UK and are able to distribute the full range of SKF products. We have access to SKF authorised distributor stocks worldwide along with non-authorized SKF bearing distributor stocks giving the greatest possible product offering for the SKF product range including oil seals, greases, lubrication division, industrial and power transmission products

Should I only buy from an authorized SKF distributor ?

There are only a small number of SKF Authorized distributors in each country and these companies purchase all of their stock directly from SKF and receive technical training from SKF on their products. There are however a lot of SKF bearing distributors such as us that are not Authorized who feel that we have the competitive edge over our competitors. As independent bearing distributors we have much more flexibility, SKF have specific routes to market for their products whereas we can find the right products on the market from a number of competitive sources to make sure that as your SKF distributor we can provide you with the level of service that you need at a competitive price.

Some SKF authorized distributors are only allowed to distribute a small selection of the product range which is not suitable for a lot of customers. At SGL Bearings Ltd we consider ourselves a :

A SKF Oil seal distributor
A SKF Grease distributor
A SKF industrial distributor
A SKF Power transmission distributor

And above all of that we are a general bearing distributor which means that if we don’t think that a SKF bearing or SKF product is right for your application then as an independent we can offer you an alternative from another major manufacturer that would better suit your needs.

Wouldn’t a SKF Authorised distributor be more competitive than a normal bearing distributor ?

You would think that an authorised SKF distributor would be more competitively priced supplying SKF products than a company such as us. Authorised distributors try to keep the pricing very high in the market, they have a lot of overheads and have to commit to purchasing a lot of stock from SKF each year. They therefore have to make much larger profit margins than a bearing distributor such as us. They have to invest in marketing materials, trade fairs, sales representatives etc as part of their agreements with SKF that an independent doesn’t have to and a company like us can purchase bearings from any Authorised SKF distributor in the world. What isn’t commonly known is that manufacturers such as SKF have different price points in different locations, meaning that a SKF bearing sourced from an authorised distributor in eastern Europe will be significantly cheaper than a SKF bearing purchased from a SKF authorised distributor in Western Europe even though the products are identical. Having this flexibility means that we often able to source, import and delivery SKF bearings and other SKF products and supply them far cheaper than an authorised distributor can.
