SKF Flanged ball bearing units

SKF flanged ball bearing units are available in a range of standards including those compliant with JIS, American standards or ISO. There are a range of housing materials and configurations for bolting and assembling the bearings.

SKF flanged ball bearing units consist of a SKF Insert bearing and a SKF bearing housing.

SKF bearing units designs

SKF flanged bearing units are available in the following designs.

SKF Square bearing units – These units have four bolt holes and are available in a range of materials including standard cast iron, pressed steel or as composite bearing housings.

SKF Oval bearing units – These units have two bolt holes and the housings are available in the same range of materials as the square bearing units

SKF round and triangular bearing units – These units can have three or four bolt holes and the housings are available in the same range of materials as the square bearing units.

SKF 3-bolt bracket units – These units have three bolt holes and are available with either cast iron or composite housings.

The full range of SKF bearing inserts are compatible with each of the bearing units above.

SKF flanged bearing unit useful information

SKF flanged ball bearings are able to accommodate static misalignment by tilting the housing. When using pressed steel housings, the misalignment must be set before the attachment bolts have been fully tightened as it cannot be accommodated once tightened unless a rubber seating ring is also used.

For cast iron, stainless steel or composite material housings, the load ratings of the flanged bearing units is at least equal to the individual insert bearing loads. For pressed steel bearing units, the load ratings are less than the individual SKF insert bearings. You should check the load rating of the pressed steel bearing units on the specification sheet before selecting them for use.
